Lilac Time on 55th Street

Mary Pat hosted a Lilac pop up on May 18th at her home. Members were invited to bring a vase or container to fill with lilacs.

” In the dooryard fronting an old farm-house near the white-wash’d palings,

Stands the lilac bush tall-growing with heart-shaped leaves of rich green,

With many a pointed blossom rising delicate, with the perfume strong I love,

With every leaf a miracle—and from this bush in the dooryard,

With delicate-color’d blossoms and heart-shaped leaves of rich green,

A sprig with its flower I break.”

Planting at General Crook House

Loveland Garden Club members- Kathy Gross, Ann Hosford, Patti Banks & Anne Carter planted the kitchen garden at the General Crook House. Kathy researched what plantings would have been during the time period of the house. Plantings included marigolds to deter the bunnies, mint, hyssop, basil, thyme, lavender and parsley. Vistor’s to the Crook House stopped by to observe the ladies as they planted.
